How to crochet Granny Square – Beginner Friendly
You’ll need:
•Yarn (medium/worsted weight is easiest for beginners)
•Crochet hook (size 4-5 mm most medium yarns)
•Scissors
•Yarn needle (for weaving in the ends)
Step 1 – Make a Slip knot Chain 4 and then slip stitch into the first chain to make a little ring
Step 2 – Chain 3 (this counts as your first doble crochet. Do 2 double crochets into the ring , then chain 2. Repeat 3 double crochets + chain 2 three more times. and Slip stitch to the top of the first chain 3. (Now you have a total of 4 ”sides” of a square)
Step 3 – Slip stitch into the next space. Chain 3, do 2 double crochet , chain 2, do 3 double crochets (that’s a corner!).In the next space, do 3 double crochets, chain 2, 3 double crochets. Repeat
Step 4 – Keep working in the spaces – corner always get 3 DC, chain 2, 3 DC and the sides just get 3 DC. When you finish the size you like, fasten off and weave in the yarn ends.
